Game Summary: March 4, 2006- RoughRiders 3 Waterloo 6
<p>March 4, 2006- James Marcou recorded a hat trick as the host Waterloo Black Hawks outscored the RoughRiders 6-1 over the final two periods on the way to a 6-3 win over Cedar Rapids Saturday night.</p>
<p>The Riders were on top 2-0 when Marcou sparked the Black Hawks’ onslaught with a power play goal at 8:36 of the second period. </p>
<p>Just ten seconds later, Mitch Ryan tipped in a Zach Bearson feed to tie the score.</p>
<p>Ryan gave the Hawks a 3-2 at 12:14 of the second. He swept home the rebound after Rider goaltender Al Stalock (34 saves) stopped his initial bid.</p>
<p>The Riders momentarily stalled the Hawks’ momentum when Phil Axtell redirected Steven Kaunisto’s drive home for a game tying power play goal at 18:01 of the middle frame.</p>
<p>The deadlock proved to be short lived, however. With just 43 seconds left in the second, Marcou struck again. The diminutive forward steered t the puck in over the goal line from the edge of the crease to put Black Hawks on top 4-3.</p>
<p>Andy Bombach stretched the gap to 5-3 just under five minutes into the second period. Bombach finished off a 2-on-1 break by converting a Tim Gilbert centering pass.</p>
<p>Marcou capped of the Waterloo win 14:32 of the third with his third goal. Marcou brought hats flying out of the Young Arena stands by burying Bombach’s goal mouth feed.</p>
<p>Early on, it seemed the night might follow a much different course as the Riders scored on their first two shots on goal. Andy Miele shoveled in Ted Purcell’s centering pass just one minute and 29 seconds into the game. </p>
<p>Just 92 seconds later, Chad Costello snapped the puck off Black Hawk netminder Joe Grossman’s glove and into the back of the net. </p>
<p>Grossman, however, recovered from that shaky start to stop 26 of the Riders’ final 27 shots.</p>
