Game Summary: February 24, 2006- RoughRiders 5 Indiana 2
<p>February 24, 2006- The host RoughRiders scored the final three goals of the game on the way to a 5-2 win over the Indiana Ice Friday night.</p>
<p>Gary Steffes started the decisive Rider goal rush at 15:02 of the second period with what would prove to be the game winning goal. Steffes buried a Jacob Cepis centering pass to snap a 2-2 tie.</p>
<p>Just two minutes later Ted Purcell made it 4-2. Purcell snapped the puck past Ice goaltender Cody Reichard from the top of the left wing circle.</p>
<p>In the third period, the Riders wrapped up the win with an Even Stephens power play goal. Stephens stretched the gap to 5-2 at the 11:20 mark of the third with a drive from the high slot.</p>
<p>The Riders only pulled away after the Ice twice came from behind to tie the game.</p>
<p>The Riders used a two on none break to open the scoring at 17:05 of the first period. Andy Miele worked a give-and-go with Chad Costello while charging down the Indiana slot before sweeping the puck past Reichard from the doorstep.</p>
<p>The Ice evened the score 7:38 into the second period on Todd McIlrath’s wrister from the right wing circle.</p>
<p>The Riders retook the lead just over three minutes later when Steven Kaunisto blasted the puck home from top of the left wing circle.</p>
<p>The Ice produced a quick response as Mike Phillipi swept the puck just inside the left goalpost from the slot at 13:44.</p>
<p>The Riders, however, would regain control just one minute and 18 seconds later when Steffes snapped the tie for good.</p>
