Game Summary: February 16, 2006- RoughRiders 1 Des Moines 5
<p>February 16, 2006- Trevor Lewis scored two shorthanded goals and added an assist as the Des Moines Buccaneers defeated the host RoughRiders 5-1 Thursday night.</p>
<p>The Bucs scored four unanswered goals- including three in the second period- to pull away from the Riders.</p>
<p>Kyle Okposo’s 5-on-3 power play goal snapped a 1-1 tie at 5:20 of the second period. Okposo blasted the puck from just inside the Cedar Rapids blue line to put Des Moines up by a goal.</p>
<p>Just 1:27 later, the Bucs’ Aaron Bendickson extended the lead to 3-1 with a wraparound goal.</p>
<p>The Bucs were down a man when Lewis charged into the right wing circle and swept the puck under Rider netminder Pat McGann (25 saves) to stretch the lead to three with just under two minutes left in the second.</p>
<p>Lewis struck again, one more during a Rider power play, at 4:54 of the third period. The second-year forward skated in alone and tucked the puck home on the forehand to make it 5-1 and cap off a successful night for the Bucs.</p>
<p>The Riders’ only goal came from Dustin Cloutier, who struck at 12:09 of the first period to even the score at one. Cloutier’s one timer from the right wing circle whistled past Des Moines netminder Brian Foster (25 saves) on the short side. </p>
<p>The Bucs had opened the scoring just under three minutes earlier on a fluke goal from Aaron Palushaj. Palushaj banked the puck in off the skate of a Rider to give Des Moines the 1-0 advantage.</p>
