Game Summary: February 11, 2006- RoughRiders 5 Omaha 2
<p>February 11, 2006- Chad Costello scored two goals and Al Stalock made 41 saves as the host RoughRiders defeated the Omaha Lancers 5-2 Saturday night.</p>
<p>After a scoreless first period, Costello gave the Riders a 1-0 lead with a breakaway goal at 6:13 of the second period.</p>
<p>The Riders were on the power play when Phil Axtell snapped the puck home from the left wing circle to extend the lead to 2-0 at 9:08 of the second.</p>
<p>Just under two minutes later, the Lancers clawed right back within one on a Ryan Turek wraparound.</p>
<p>Three minutes and five seconds after the Lancers got on the scoreboard for the first time, the Riders bounced back to make it 3-1 when David Strathman scored shorthanded. Strathman raced in on another Rider breakaway and backhanded the puck past Omaha goaltender Michael Spillane (29 saves) for what would prove to be the game winner.</p>
<p>The Lancers again cut the deficit to one when Matt Schepke scored from the doorstep at 1:28 of the third period, but the Riders would protect the 3-2 lead deep into the third and then put Omaha away with a pair of late empty net goals.</p>
<p>First Costello- at 18:28- and then Dustin Cloutier at- 19:11- found the gaping Lancer net.</p>
