RoughRiders to Auction Detroit Red Wings Jersey Autographed by Steve Yzerman
<p>January 19, 2006- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will auction off a Detroit Red Wings jersey autographed by Wings captain and future Hall-of-Famer Steve Yzerman, the RoughRiders announced today. </p>
<p>Auction proceeds will benefit the RoughRiders' Score for the Community Fund.</p>
<p>"The chance to bid on autographed National Hockey League jerseys is obviously a rare opportunity," said RoughRiders Vice President of Operations Jim Calpin. "We are very happy to be able to offer this opportunity to our fans."</p>
<p>The RoughRiders have teamed up with EasyBids to hold the on-line auction, which opens tomorrow evening at 7:00PM and will run for ten days. The jersey auction can be accessed through the EasyBids link on the Riders' web site, www.roughridershockey.com. Bids on the jersey can be made using a major credit card.</p>
<p>EasyBids is one of the fastest growing eBay drop-off stores in the world. The Cedar Rapids EasyBids drop-off store is located at 1961 Blairs Ferry Road NE.</p>
<p>Yzerman, now in his twenty-second National Hockey League season, is widely regarded as one of the greatest centerman in the history of the sport. Yzerman has led the Wings to three Stanley Cup titles and was a member of the gold medal-winning Canadian team at the 2002 Winter Olympics.</p>
<p>Score for the Community provides RoughRiders tickets to local charitable groups through corporate and individual donations. </p>
<p>The Riders (21-9-4, 46 points) are in second place in the USHL's East Division, just two points behind the Des Moines Buccaneers heading in tomorrow night's meeting with the Bucs in Urbandale. The Riders can move into a tie for first place with a regulation win over Des Moines tomorrow evening. The Riders return home Saturday night to take on the Chicago Steel at 7:05PM.</p>
<p>Tickets for Saturday's game- and all remaining RoughRider home games- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 including a 50-cent facility fee.</p> |
