Game Summary: October 30, 2004 - RoughRiders 4 Indiana 3
<p>Alec Martinez scored with 1:13 remaining in regulation to give the host RoughRiders a 4-3 win over the Indiana Ice Saturday night.</p>
<p>The victory enabled the RoughRiders to move past the Ice into sole possession of first place in the United States Hockey League’s East Division. The win was also the one hundred fiftieth in RoughRider history.</p>
<p>Martinez delivered the game winner when his shot from the top of the left wing circle nicked Indiana goaltender B.J. O’Brien’s glove and sailed into the top corner. O’Brien suffered that piece of bad luck after making 26 saves, including a number of spectacular stops.</p>
<p>Martinez was forced to don the hero’s mantle after Eddie Del Grosso tied the game at three for Indiana at 16:57 of the third period. Del Grosso’s shot from just inside the blue line deflected off a stick and between Rider goalie Alex Stalock’s pads.</p>
<p>The Riders took a 3-2 lead into the late going after Hunter Bishop (one goal, one assist) buried a Teddy Purcell (one goal, two assists) centering pass at 2:33 of the third.</p>
<p>That goal came just one minute forty-three seconds after Tomas Klempa had scored to tie the game at two apiece and complete the Ice’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit. Klempa hit the RoughRider line and flipped the puck home between Stalock’s legs just 50 seconds into the third.</p>
<p>The Ice first got on the scoreboard with Mike Beck’s power play goal at 19:17 of the second period. Beck’s drive from the left point caromed in off the post to cut the Cedar Rapids lead to 2-1.</p>
<p>The Riders had jumped in front by scoring a pair of first period goals just 57 seconds apart. Purcell snapped Bishop’s centering pass past O’Brien to open the scoring at 6:41.</p>
<p>Axtell skated across the goalmouth alone and swept the puck behind O’Brien to make it 2-0 at 7:38.</p>
