RoughRiders Land Dolan from Indiana for Bendickson, Draft Choice

January 16, 2006- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have acquired forward Sean Dolan from the Indiana Ice in exchange for forward Aaron Bendickson and the Riders' first round pick in the 2006 United States Hockey League draft, the RoughRiders announced today.

"We'd like to thank Aaron for his contributions to the RoughRiders this season," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "We are very excited about the acquisition of Sean Dolan, who's a good young player with a nice mix of size and skill."

Dolan, 17, scored five goals and totaled ten points in 27 games with Indiana this season. Last year, in his first USHL campaign, Dolan notched three goals and five points in 28 games with the Ice.

Dolan has been selected to play in the 2006 USHL All-Star/Prospects Game on February 7 in Sioux City. The Chesterfield, Missouri, native joins Ted Purcell, Phil Axtell, Chad Costello, Ray Kaunisto, Kevin Wehrs and Al Stalock as part of what was already the largest Rider all-star contingent in team history. The Riders' total of seven all-stars also matches the league high for this year's game.

The 6' 2", 180-pound Dolan was ranked one hundred forty-fifth among North American skaters in the National Hockey League Central Scouting Service's just released mid-season rankings of players eligible for the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Dolan was a teammate of the RoughRiders' Stalock and Gary Steffes on the United States Junior Select 18-and-Under Team that won the bronze medal at the Viking Cup international tournament in Camrose, Alberta earlier this month.

Bendickson, 18, produced six goals and nine points in 29 games with the RoughRiders this season. The Wisconsin recruit was selected by RoughRiders in the fifteenth round of the May, 2005 USHL draft with the one hundred twenty-third overall choice.

Bendickson, a native of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, joined the Riders after scoring 13 goals and recording 38 points in 48 games with the Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League last season.

Dolan will be available to make his RoughRider debut Wednesday evening when the Riders visit the league leading Sioux Falls Stampede. Wednesday's game is the first of three this week for the Riders, who will meet the Des Moines Buccaneers in Urbandale Friday evening before returning home to take on the Chicago Steel Saturday night at 7:05.

Tickets for Saturday's game- and all remaining RoughRider home games- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 including a 50-cent facility fee.
| Posted on Monday, January 16, 2006 (Archive on Monday, January 16, 2006)
