i wireless Corridor Cup to Be Presented to RoughRiders Prior to Friday's Game

January 11, 2006- The i wireless Corridor Cup will be presented to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders prior to the Riders' game against the Omaha Lancers this Friday at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

The i wireless Corridor Cup is awarded annually to the winner of the regular season series between the RoughRiders and Waterloo Black Hawks. The Riders wrapped up the Corridor Cup with a win 5-1 win over the Black Hawks last Saturday at the ice arena.

With that victory, the Riders' fourth in five meetings with the Black Hawks this season, Cedar Rapids has now collected eight points in games against Waterloo. The Black Hawks have earned four points (thanks to one win and two overtime losses) from those five games. With two games yet to come between the two teams, the Hawks still have a chance to finish the season series in a tie with the Riders. However, the Riders have already clinched the potential tie breaker- most wins in the season series.

This is the second year in a row that the Riders have taken home the i wireless Corridor Cup. Since the Corridor Cup was first awarded in 1999-2000 (the RoughRiders' first season in Cedar Rapids), the Riders have won the trophy four times while the Black Hawks have claimed the hardware three times.

The Riders and Hawks will wrap up the 2005-06 season series with clashes March 4 in Waterloo and March 10 in Cedar Rapids.

The Riders (20-9-2, 42 points) are in second place in the USHL's East Division. The Riders return to action this weekend with a pair of home games. After meeting the Lancers Friday night, the Riders will welcome the Chicago Steel to town Saturday evening. Both games face off at 7:05PM.

Tickets for this weekend's games- and all remaining RoughRider home games- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com.
