RoughRiders Open Training Camp This Weekend

September 1, 2004 - <SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: normal"><FONT size=3><FONT face=Arial>The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will open their 2004 training camp this weekend with double sessions Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </SPAN>The Riders will practice from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:time w:st="on" Minute="0" Hour="8">8:00</st1:time> to <st1:time w:st="on" Minute="0" Hour="10">10:00AM</st1:time> and again from <st1:time w:st="on" Minute="0" Hour="16">4:00</st1:time> to <st1:time w:st="on" Minute="0" Hour="18">6:00PM</st1:time> each day. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1">            </SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">&#8220;We&#8217;re very excited about getting back on the ice,&#8221; said RoughRiders coach and general manager Mark Carlson.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </SPAN>&#8220;We&#8217;ll be putting in a lot of hard work to get ready for opening night.&#8221;<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1">            </SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'">The camp will continue with single practices at <st1:time w:st="on" Minute="30" Hour="14">2:30PM</st1:time> beginning next Tuesday. Training camp is open to the public.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </SPAN><o:p></o:p></SPAN></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0.5in"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'">The RoughRiders open their six-game pre-season schedule when they visit their arch rivals, the defending Clark Cup champion Waterloo Black Hawks, on Wednesday, September 8 at 7:05PM.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </SPAN>The Riders will play their only home pre-season game, also against the Black Hawks on Monday, September 13 at <st1:time w:st="on" Minute="5" Hour="19">7:05PM</st1:time><o:p></o:p></SPAN></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0.5in"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">The RoughRiders will raise the curtain on the regular season, their sixth in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Cedar Rapids</st1:place></st1:City>, on Saturday, September 25 when they visit the Des Moines Buccaneers.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </SPAN>The RoughRiders play their home opener on Saturday, October 16 when they again host <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Waterloo</st1:place></st1:City>.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </SPAN><o:p></o:p></SPAN></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0.5in"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">2004-05 season tickets are currently available through the RoughRiders&#8217; business office (247-0340).<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </SPAN>Fans who pay for season tickets in full before August 31 will receive a 10% discount in addition to a host of other benefits available exclusively to season ticket holders.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </SPAN><o:p></o:p></SPAN></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0.5in"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Over their first five seasons, the Riders have secured a place as one of the top organizations in the United States Hockey League.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </SPAN>The RoughRiders are one of just three teams to have reached the USHL playoffs each of the last four seasons and last year set a franchise record for wins in a season.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </SPAN>The Riders are also annually among the league leaders in attendance, frequently drawing sellout crowds to the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
