Game Summary: December 9, 2005- RoughRiders 5 Sioux City 0
<p>December 9,2005- Pat McGann made 31 saves while posting his first USHL shutout and Phil Axtell scored two goals and had one assist as the RoughRiders rolled past the host Sioux City Musketeers 5-0 Friday night.</p>
<p>The Riders exploded for four first period goals to put the Musketeers away early.</p>
<p>Axtell opened the scoring at 6:02 of the first by firing the puck over the left shoulder of Sioux City goaltender Jerry Kuhn from the left wing circle.</p>
<p>At 10:37 of the first, Chad Costello doubled the lead with a power play goal. Costello skated around the sprawling Kuhn and swept the puck into the empty net. </p>
<p>Just one minute, seventeen second later Ian Slater crashed the net to give the Riders a 3-0 lead. After that goal, Beau Erickson replaced Kuhn in the Sioux City net.</p>
<p>The Riders were on the power play when, at 16:30 of the first, Gary Steffes welcomed Erickson to the game by stickhandling down the slot and snapping the puck home over the netmider's glove hand.</p>
<p>Axtell punctuated the win with his second goal at 2:17 of the third period. Ted Purcell fed the puck in front and Axtell buried it to make the score 5-0.</p>
<p>While the Riders were tearing into the Sioux City goaltending duo, McGann was solid between the pipes at the other end, making ten saves in each of the first two periods and 11 in the third.</p>
