Fans to Shoot on RoughRiders Goaltender After Saturday's Game

November 30, 2005- Fans will have the chance to try and score on a Cedar Rapids RoughRiders goaltender after the Riders' 7:05PM game against the Omaha Lancers this Saturday.

Immediately after the conclusion of the game, fans will have the opportunity to step out on to the ice and try to fire a shot past one of the Riders' two netminders. Either Alex Stalock or Pat McGann will face down paying customers.

"This is truly a unique opportunity," said RoughRiders Vice President of Operations Jim Calpin. "To have the chance like this to go up against one of the top goaltenders in the United States Hockey League, a guy who might eventually play in the National Hockey League, is a once in a lifetime event."

Stalock, in this his second season with the RoughRiders, has gone 10-5 in 15 games while posting a 2.64 goals against average and a .924 save percentage. Last year the South St. Paul, Minnesota native backstopped the Riders to the first USHL title in team history.

McGann has enjoyed a strong start to his first season with the Riders, turning in a 3-0-1 record, a 2.45 goals against average and a .920 save percentage.

Both of the Riders' goaltenders were selected in July's National Hockey League draft. Stalock was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fourth round with the one hundred twelfth overall choice. McGann went to the Dallas Stars in round seven with the two hundred twenty-third overall pick.

Also this Saturday, RoughRiders fans will have another chance to donate to the HACAP Food Reservoir when the Riders host their regular monthly food drive during the game against the Lancers. The Riders and the Cedar Rapids Jaycees team up for food drives at the Riders' first Saturday home game of each month.

This Saturday's game marks the second opportunity in as many weeks for RoughRiders fans to lend a hand to those in need. Fans of the RoughRiders and Waterloo Black Hawks combined to donate 4,429 pounds of food during the home-and-home series between the two teams last week in a "A Shot on Goal to Eliminate Hunger," a joint effort of the cities of Cedar Rapids and Waterloo to combat hunger during the holidays.

The RoughRiders (13-5-1, 27 points), who are currently in second place in the USHL's East Division, return to action Friday night when they visit the Lincoln Stars before returning home to meet the Lancers the following evening.

Tickets for Saturday night's game- and all remaining RoughRider home games- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 including a 50-cent facility fee.
