Rider Alum Eichenlaub Named CCHA Defenseman of the Week
<p>November 30, 2005- Former RoughRider defenseman Ray Eichenlaub, now a freshman at Miami of Ohio, has been named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Defenseman of the Week.</p>
<p>Eichenlaub, 19, earned the honor after picking up three assists in Miami's two game sweep of Bowling Green last weekend. Eichenlaub assisted on two goals in the Red Hawks' 6-1 win last Friday and picked up another assist in a 5-2 victory last Saturday. The Willmette, Illinois, native also posted a plus/minus rating of +2 for the weekend.</p>
<p>Eichenlaub has scored one goal and totaled five points in twelve games this season to help propel Miami to the top of the CCHA standings. The Red Hawks, who have gone 8-1-1 in conference play and 9-2-1 overall, are ranked eighth in the nation.</p>
<p>Eichenlaub was a two year standout with the RoughRiders and a key member of the Riders' 2004-05 Clark Cup championship team. Eichenlaub last season totaled 33 points and set a club record for defensemen by scoring 12 goals. He also finished third in the United States Hockey League with a plus/minus rating of +30. Over the course of his Rider career, Eichenlaub notched 14 goals and 35 assists for 49 points in 112 games.</p>
<p>Along with forward Billy Loupee and defenseman Alec Martinez, Eichenlaub is one of three former Riders now playing for Miami. Current Rider forwards Gary Steffes and Andy Miele are also Red Hawk recruits.</p>
<p>The RoughRiders (13-5-1, 27 points), who are currently in second place in the USHL's East Division, return to action Friday night when they visit the Lincoln Stars. The Riders next take to the ice at home this Saturday evening when they host the Omaha Lancers at 7:05.</p>
<p>Tickets for Saturday night's game- and all remaining RoughRider home games- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 including a 50-cent facility fee.</p> |
