RoughRiders Join "A Shot on Goal to Eliminate Hunger"

<p>November 21, 2005- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will join with the Waterloo Black Hawks, Cedar Rapids Mayor Paul Pate, Waterloo Mayor Tim Hurley and the Cedar Rapids Jaycees this week for "A Shot on Goal to Eliminate Hunger," the RoughRiders announced today.</p> <p>"A Shot on Goal to Eliminate Hunger" is a food drive that will be held at this Wednesday's game between the RoughRiders and Black Hawks in Cedar Rapids and at Thursday evening's contest between the two teams in Waterloo. Both games start at 7:05PM.</p> <p>Mayor Pate and Mayor Hurley have challenged each other's communities through donations to local food banks. Fans are encouraged to bring as many non-perishable food items to the game as they possibly can. The community that generates the largest amount of food donations will receive the coveted "Can-Do Award."</p> <p>"We're thrilled to be a part of 'A Shot on Goal to Eliminate Hunger,'" said RoughRiders Vice President of Operations Jim Calpin. "Our fans are among the most generous anywhere and we are sure they will make the most of this opportunity to combat hunger in eastern Iowa."</p> <p>The Cedar Rapids Jaycees will collect the donations for the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program's Food Reservoir in time for holiday distribution.</p> <p>Tickets for this Wednesday's game- and all remaining RoughRider home games- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 including a 50-cent facility fee.</p>
