RoughRiders Trade Cornelius to Tri-City for Gunderson

<P>November 17, 2005- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have acquired forward Ryan Gunderson from the Tri-City Storm in exchange for defenseman Brent Cornelius, the RoughRiders announced today.</P><IMG src="/content/portals/5/images/GundersonR.jpg" align=right border=0> <P>"Ryan is an experienced player who is skilled offensively and can also provide a physical presence," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "Brent did a fine job for us both last season and this year and we certainly expect him to have continued success in Tri-City."</P> <P>Gunderson, 19, scored two goals and totaled seven points in 17 games with the Storm this season. Last year, in his first USHL campaign, Gunderson scored five times and notched 13 points in 57 games with Tri-City.</P> <P>A native of Mahtomedi, Minnesota, Gunderson will return to his home state next season to begin his college career at Minnesota State-Mankato.</P> <P>Cornelius, 18, posted a solid plus/minus rating of +2 while going without a point in five games with the RoughRiders this season. </P> <P>Last season, Cornelius produced two goals and six assists in 57 games. The Fairbanks, Alaska, native picked up one assist in nine playoff games as the Riders won the Clark Cup title for the first time in team history.</P> <P>Gunderson, who will wear number 15 for the RoughRiders, is expected to make his Cedar Rapids debut this weekend when the Riders return to action with a home-and-home series against the Des Moines Buccaneers. The Riders (10-4-0, 20 points) are one point behind the Buccaneers in the race for first place in the USHL's East Division heading into this Friday's game against the Bucs at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The two teams will meet again Saturday evening in Urbandale.</P> <P>Tickets for all RoughRiders home games- including Friday's- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days, including tomorrow. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 including a 50-cent facility fee.</P>
