1st place West Division<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> COMING IN<o:p></o:p>             The RoughRiders won back-to-back games on the road last weekend.  The Riders defeated the Omaha Lancers 4-2 last Friday and dropped the Lincoln Stars 5-2 last Saturday.  <o:p></o:p> The Riders remain one point behind the Des Moines Buccaneers in the race for first place in the United States Hockey League’s East Division.<o:p></o:p> Last weekend’s victories extended the Riders’ road winning streak to five straight games.<o:p></o:p>             The Riders remain the highest scoring team in the league, averaging 4.2 goals per game.  The Riders also boast the USHL’s second most efficient power play (20.5 percent).<o:p></o:p>             The Riders’ line of Ted Purcell, Phil Axtell and Chad Costello broke loose for a dozen points last weekend.<o:p></o:p> Purcell (7-11-18) is the Riders’ top point producer and is tied for second in the league in points.  <o:p></o:p> Axtell (8-6-14) saw his team record setting six game goal scoring streak snapped last Friday but has still recorded at least one point in eight straight games.  On the season, Axtell is tied for fifth in the league in goal scoring and is tied for the league lead in power play goals (5).<o:p></o:p> Costello (5-10-15) has recorded at least a point in each of the Riders’ first eleven games.<o:p></o:p> The Musketeers are unbeaten in regulation (3-0-1) in their last four games.<o:p></o:p> <st1:City w:st="on">Sioux City</st1:City> earned three of a possible four points from a two game series in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Chicago</st1:City></st1:place> last weekend.  The Musketeers picked up one point in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Steel last Friday.  One night later, the Muskies rebounded to hammer <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Chicago</st1:place></st1:City> 10-4 and set a league season high for goals in a game.<o:p></o:p> <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Sioux City</st1:place></st1:City> has given up a league high average of 4.2 goals per game this season.  The Musketeers have given up more power play goals (19) than any other team and rank second to last in penalty kill efficiency (80.6 percent).<o:p></o:p> Sam Gagner (6-10-16) leads a <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Sioux City</st1:City></st1:place> offense that ranks fourth in goals per game (3.4).  Gagner is tied for fifth in the league in point scoring.<o:p></o:p>             The Stampede has won eight straight games and is three points ahead of <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Des Moines</st1:place></st1:City> in the race for first place overall.  <st1:City w:st="on">Sioux Falls</st1:City> leads the West Division by four points over <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Omaha</st1:place></st1:City>.  The Stampede has gotten off to a hot start under first year coach Kevin Hartzell after missing the playoffs each of the last three years.       <o:p></o:p>             Last weekend <st1:City w:st="on">Sioux Falls</st1:City> swept a pair of games from <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Indiana</st1:place></st1:State>.  The Stampede edged the Ice 2-1 in a shooout last Friday and scored a more comfortable 5-1 win last Friday.<o:p></o:p>             <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Sioux Falls</st1:place></st1:City> has surrendered a league low 2.1 goals per game while scoring 3.6 per game, third most in the league. <o:p></o:p>             Swede Andreas Nodl (8-8-16), the Stampede’s top offensive threat, is tied for fifth in the USHL in points while goaltender John Murray leads the league in goals against average (1.98).<o:p></o:p>             The Stampede’s meeting with the RoughRiders will be <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Sioux Falls</st1:place></st1:City>’ third game of the week.  <st1:City w:st="on">Chicago</st1:City> visits the Sioux Falls Arena Wednesday and the Stampede will take on the Black Hawks in Bendickson scored the tying and game winning goals as the Riders came from behind in the third to win.  Ted Purcell finished off the Lancers with an empty net goal in the final minute of regulation. Axtell provided one apiece.  Nick Grasso’s goal late in the first period snapped a 1-1 tie and put the Riders in front for good.  Costello’s first goal came just thirty-one seconds into the first Gagner in the first period and from Kyle Follmer in the second had enabled the Musketeers to build a 3-1 lead, but <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Chicago</st1:place></st1:City> rallied with
