Game Summary: October 29, 2005- RoughRiders 3 Des Moines 4
<P>October 29, 2005- Trevor Lewis scored a tie-breaking shorthanded goal with 3:57 left in the third period and Troy Davenport made 47 saves as the Des Moines Buccaneers defeated the host RoughRideres 4-3 Saturday night. </P>
<P>With the Riders up a man, Lewis charged down the slot and swept the puck under Cedar Rapids goaltender Al Stalock (31 saves) to snap a 3-3 deadlock. Lewis's goal was the Bucs' second shorthanded strike of the game.</P>
<P>Davenport and the Bucs held on for the win after the Riders pulled Stalock for an extra attacker in the final minute and generated a series of quality chances in the dying seconds.</P>
<P>The Riders earlier on had battled back to tie the game on three separate occasions. The Bucs entered the third period up 3-2 until David Strathman evened the score with a 5-on-3 power play goal. Strathman swept a cross-crease pass from Chad Costello home at 5:29 of the third.</P>
<P>The Bucs were able to take the lead into the third after John Vadnais scored what was Des Moines' first shorthanded goal of the game and his second goal of the second period at 12:45 of the middle frame. Vadnais chipped the puck over Stalock from the slot just 2:44 after Phil Axtell had tied knotted the scored at two apiece.</P>
<P>Axtell backhanded a Ted Purcell centering pass into the back of the net to extend his personal goal scoring streak to a team record six straight games.</P>
<P>Vadnais struck for the first time at 5:55 of the second period, launching a Ken Rowe feed home from the slot during a Buccaneer power play to make it 2-1 Des Moines.</P>
<P>The teams swapped first period goals. Ben Ryan got his stick on a Colin Vock centering pass to open the scoring 4:08 into the game.</P>
<P>The Riders responded at 11:22 of the first when Aaron Bendickson pounced on a loose puck in the right wing circle and snapped it inside the post for the Riders' first goal.</P>
