Game Summary: Oct 22, 2004 - RoughRiders 3 Chicago 0

The RoughRiders extended their season opening unbeaten streak to six games Friday night as Dan Tormey made 26 saves and the Riders scored three third period goals to shutout the host Chicago Steel 3-0.

After Chicago goaltender Billy Sauer stopped all 24 shots he faced over the first two periods, the RoughRiders finally snapped the deadlock just over a minute into the third period while on the power play. Matt Vokes jammed home a Greg Collins feed from the doorstep to give Cedar Rapids a 1-0 lead.

The RoughRiders extended the lead to 2-0 at 12:29 of the third when Brandon Svendsen took another Collins pass and charged down the slot to beat Sauer with a backhander.

Jon Grabarek finished off the Steel and made team history with an empty net goal with just over 26 seconds remaining. Grabarek swept the puck into the gaping Chicago goal from his own end of the ice for his thirty-ninth career goal as a RoughRider- a new team record.

Tormey was tested most often in the third period as he faced 13 shots after seeing a total of just 13 over the first two periods combined.
