RoughRiders Open House Sunday
<p>September 28, 2005- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will open the doors to the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena Sunday from 5:00 to 6:30PM for the 2005 RoughRiders Open House. The open house will offer fans a chance to meet the 2005-06 RoughRiders and will also feature tours, an autograph session and a free skate. Admission to the open house is free.</p>
<p>"This is a chance for us to welcome our fans to another season of RoughRiders hockey," said RoughRiders Vice President of Operations Jim Calpin. "This is also a unique opportunity fans to enjoy total access to the team and the arena."</p>
<p>Fans will have the chance to get out on the ice for a free skate (not including skate rental) with their favorite players from 5:00 to 6:00. RoughRiders players will also sign autographs for fans from 6:00 to 6:30.</p>
<p>RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson will also be on hand for a "Hockey 101" session. The 2004-05 United States Hockey League Coach of the Year will instruct fans in the basics of hockey and answer questions.</p>
<p>As part of the open house fans will also be able to tour the team's locker room. </p>
<p>The 2005 RoughRiders Open House comes just days before the RoughRiders' home opener. The Riders will host the Green Bay Gamblers Saturday, October 8 at 7:05PM. The RoughRiders began the regular season with a 3-1 win over the Tri-City Storm last Saturday in Kearney, Nebraska. The Riders face two more road games- this Saturday at Green Bay and Friday, October 7 at Waterloo- before the October 8 home opener.</p>
<p>Prior to the start of the home opener, the RoughRiders will celebrate their historic 2004-05 season by raising Clark Cup, Anderson Cup and East Division championship banners to the rafters of the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The Riders will also conduct a special number retirement ceremony as part of the pregame festivities. </p>
<p>In addition, all fans in attendance on October 8 will receive free 2005-06 RoughRiders magnet schedules.</p>
<p>Tickets for all RoughRiders regular season home games- including the home opener- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days, including tomorrow. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 including a 50-cent facility fee.</p>
<p>Now in their seventh season, the RoughRiders have secured a place as one of the premier organizations in the USHL. The RoughRiders are the reigning Clark Cup and East Division champions and Anderson Cup co-champions.
