RoughRiders Open Season Tomorrow at Tri-City

<p>September 23, 2005- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will begin their defense of the Clark Cup tomorrow night at 7:05PM when they open the 2005-06 regular season against the Tri-City Storm in Kearney, Nebraska. </p> <p>"We've worked hard during preseason and I think we're ready to get out there and play for two points," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. </p> <p>Seven RoughRiders return from last season's title-winning squad. Foremost among the returnees are goaltender Alex Stalock, the 2005 Clark Cup Playoff Most Valuable Player, and Ted Purcell, who finished fourth in the United States Hockey League in scoring last season while setting Rider records for assists (40) and points (67) in a single season. </p> <p>The RoughRiders will take to the ice tomorrow evening after going 4-3 in seven preseason games. The Storm posted a 2-2 record in the preseason after going 33-21-6 last season.</p> <p>After tomorrow night, the RoughRiders will play two more road games- Saturday, October 1 at Green Bay and Friday, October 7 at Waterloo- before opening on home ice on Saturday, October 8 against Green Bay.</p> <p>Beginning with tomorrow night's opener, RoughRiders regular season and playoff games will again this season be broadcast on AM-1360 The Fan in Cedar Rapids. Brian Lavelle provides play-by-play.</p> <p>The radio broadcast of tomorrow night's game will be tape-delayed. The opener can be heard on AM-1360 The Fan following the conclusion of Saturday evening's baseball game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers. </p> <p>Courtesy of B2 Networks, free audio webcasts of Riders games will also be available throughout the season at www.roughridershockey.com. </p> <p>The RoughRiders and B2 have also teamed up to offer pay-per-view video webcasts of all RoughRiders games. Fans can click on the "Watch RoughRiders' Games Live" icon at www.roughridershockey.com to watch and listen to the game. The broadcast is available to fans with a high speed DSL or cable modem internet connection. The charge for video webcasts is $6 per game.</p> <p>Both the audio-only and video webcast of tomorrow's opener will be available live.</p> <p>2005-06 RoughRiders season tickets are currently available through the Riders' business office (247-0340). Along with their seats, season tickets holders also receive a host of exclusive benefits.</p> <p>Single game tickets for RoughRiders home games will go on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office Monday. The ticket office will be open from noon to 5:00PM Monday through Friday and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Tickets can be purchased in person at the box office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. </p> <p>Entering their seventh season, the RoughRiders have secured a place as one of the premier organizations in the USHL. The RoughRiders are the reigning Clark Cup and East Division champions and Anderson Cup co-champions. The Riders have posted winning records each of the last five seasons and have qualified for the Clark Cup playoffs each of the last five years.</p>
