RoughRiders Add Defenseman Kolasau

<P>September 19, 2005- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have added defenseman Siarhei Kolasau to their regular season roster, the RoughRiders announced today. Kolasau made his debut for the RoughRiders over the weekend in the Buc Bowl preseason tournament in Des Moines. </P> <P>Kolasau, a 19-year old native of Minsk, Belarus, was taken in the fifth round of the 2004 National Hockey League draft with the one hundred fifty-first overall choice by the Detroit Red Wings.</P> <P>"We believe Siarhei is going to be a valuable contributor to our defense this season," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "I think the fact that the Red Wings organization felt that coming to the United States Hockey League would be the best move for the development of a player with Siarhei's potential says a lot about the way the National Hockey League views our league."</P> <P>The 6' 4", 187-pound Kolasau first played for the Riders last Friday in a 3-2 loss to the Sioux City Musketeers and also skated in the Riders' 6-3 win over Lincoln last Saturday.</P> <P>Kolasau played for Belarus in the last two World Junior Championships. At the 2005 WJC in January in Grand Forks, North Dakota and Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Kolasau scored one goal in six games and helped Belarus to a 5-3 upset of the United States- Belarus's first ever win at the WJC.</P> <P>Kolasau spent most of the last two seasons with Dinamo Minsk in the Belarussian League before moving to HC Minsk late last season. He scored two goals and totaled eight points in 38 games last year.</P> <P>Kolasau joins Jordan Pietrus and Ted Purcell as the third foreign-born player on the RoughRiders' roster. While USHL teams are normally allowed only two imports, a club can carry three if at least one of those imports spent all of the previous season with the team. Both Pietrus and Purcell were with the Riders for all of last season.</P> <P>Kolasau is set to make his USHL regular season debut when the RoughRiders open the campaign against the Tri-City Storm Saturday night at 7:05 in Kearney, Nebraska. The Riders will open on home ice on Saturday, October 8 when they play host to the Green Bay Gamblers at 7:05PM.</P> <P>2005-06 RoughRiders season tickets are currently available through the Riders' business office (247-0340). In addition to their seats, season ticket holders also receive a host of exclusive benefits.</P> <P>Last season's Clark Cup (playoff) title was the first in RoughRider history. The Riders also claimed a share of the Anderson Cup (regular season) title for the first time ever. The Riders went 42-13-5 last season, the best record in team history. </P> <P><B>#30 Siarhei Kolasau, Defense</B></P> <TABLE> <TBODY> <TR> <TD width="50%"><B>Birth Date:</B> 5/22/86</TD> <TD widht="50%"><B>Hometown:</B> Minsk, Belarus</TD></TR> <TR> <TD><B>Height:</B> 6' 4"</TD> <TD><B>Weight:</B> 187 lbs. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> <TABLE style="FONT-SIZE: 12px" width=750> <TBODY> <TR> <TD colSpan=6><BR><B>REGULAR SEASON</B></TD></TR> <TR> <TD>SEASON</TD> <TD>TEAM</TD> <TD>GP</TD> <TD>G</TD> <TD>A</TD> <TD>PTS</TD> <TD>PM</TD> <TD>PP</TD> <TD>SH</TD> <TD>GW</TD> <TD>+/-</TD></B></TR> <TR> <TD>2003-04</TD> <TD>Dinamo Minsk</TD> <TD>43</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>4</TD> <TD>4</TD> <TD>28</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD></TR> <TR> <TD>2004-05</TD> <TD>Dinamo Minsk</TD> <TD>37</TD> <TD>2</TD> <TD>6</TD> <TD>8</TD> <TD>24</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD></TR> <TR> <TD>2004-05</TD> <TD>HC Minsk</TD> <TD>1</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>2</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD></TR> <TR> <TD>2004-05</TD> <TD>TOTALS</TD> <TD>38</TD> <TD>2</TD> <TD>6</TD> <TD>8</TD> <TD>26</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD></TR> <TR> <TD colSpan=6><BR><B>PLAYOFFS</B></TD></TR> <TR> <TD>SEASON</TD> <TD>TEAM</TD> <TD>GP</TD> <TD>G</TD> <TD>A</TD> <TD>PTS</TD> <TD>PM</TD> <TD>PP</TD> <TD>SH</TD> <TD>GW</TD> <TD>+/-</TD></B></TR> <TR> <TD>2003-04</TD> <TD>Dinamo Minsk</TD> <TD>9</TD> <TD>1</TD> <TD>2</TD> <TD>3</TD> <TD>10</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD></TR> <TR> <TD>2004-05</TD> <TD>HC Minsk</TD> <TD>9</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>4</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD></TR> <TR> <TD colSpan=6><BR><B>WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHP</B></TD></TR> <TR> <TD>SEASON</TD> <TD>TEAM</TD> <TD>GP</TD> <TD>G</TD> <TD>A</TD> <TD>PTS</TD> <TD>PM</TD> <TD>PP</TD> <TD>SH</TD> <TD>GW</TD> <TD>+/-</TD></B></TR> <TR> <TD>2004</TD> <TD>Belarus(B pool)</TD> <TD>5</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>2</TD> <TD>2</TD> <TD>6</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD> <TD>--</TD></TR> <TR> <TD>2005</TD> <TD>Belarus</TD> <TD>6</TD> <TD>1</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>1</TD> <TD>6</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>0</TD> <TD>-5</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
