RoughRiders Return to Preseason Action Tomorrow at Buc Bowl
<p>September 14, 2005- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders return to preseason action tomorrow morning at the Buc Bowl tournament in Des Moines. The Riders play their first game of the twelve-team tournament against IFK Helsinki, a visiting Finnish team, tomorrow morning at 10:00.</p>
<p>"With our opener coming up next week, the Buc Bowl is an excellent opportunity to prepare for the regular season," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. </p>
<p>The Riders will be back in Des Moines Friday afternoon at 1:00 to meet Sioux City for the first time since defeating the Musketeers in last spring's Clark Cup finals. The Riders will close out the Buc Bowl when they take on the Lincoln Stars on Saturday at 2:30PM.</p>
<p>The Riders will play at the 3,000-seat Buccaneer Arena tomorrow and Friday. Saturday's clash with Lincoln will take place at the smaller Metro Ice Sports Facility.</p>
<p>The RoughRiders tuned up for the Buc Bowl by splitting their first four preseason games. The Riders were last in action Monday night, when they fell to the Waterloo Black Hawks 7-5 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.</p>
<p>The RoughRiders will open the regular season on September 24 when they meet the Tri-City Storm in Kearney, Nebraska. The Riders will open on home ice on Saturday, October 8 when they play host to the Green Bay Gamblers at 7:05PM.</p>
<p>2005-06 RoughRiders season tickets are currently available through the Riders' business office (247-0340). In addition to their seats, season ticket holders also receive a host of exclusive benefits.</p>
<p>Last season's Clark Cup (playoff) title was the first in RoughRider history. The Riders also claimed a share of the Anderson Cup (regular season) title for the first time ever. The Riders went 42-13-5 last season, the best record in team history. </p> |
