RoughRiders Open Training Camp This Weekend
<p>September 1, 2005- The Clark Cup champion Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will open their 2005 training camp this weekend with double sessions Sunday and Monday at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The Riders will practice from 8:00 to 10:00AM and again from 4:00 to 6:00PM both days. </p>
<p>"We're really looking forward to getting back on the ice," said RoughRiders coach and general manager Mark Carlson. "Our guys have worked very hard during the offseason so they should be ready to go this weekend."</p>
<p>Sunday's sessions will be open to the public. However, Monday's practices will be closed. The camp will continue with single practices at 2:30PM beginning next Tuesday. </p>
<p>The RoughRiders open their seven-game preseason schedule with a visit to their arch rivals, the Waterloo Black Hawks, next Wednesday at 7:05PM. That game is the first of three exhibition tilts in four nights for Cedar Rapids. The Riders will visit the Des Moines Buccaneers Friday night, September 9 at 7:35 before hosting the Buccaneers at the Coral Ridge Ice Arena in Coralville the following evening at 7:05. The Riders will play their only preseason game at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena on Monday, September 12 at 7:05PM when they again meet Waterloo.</p>
<p>Admission to the Saturday, September 10, game in Coralville is free of charge. Tickets for the Monday, September 12, game in Cedar Rapids will be available for $5 at the ice arena box office on the day of the game.</p>
<p>The RoughRiders will open the regular season on September 24 when they meet the Tri-City Storm in Kearney, Nebraska. The Riders will open on home ice on Saturday, October 8 when they play host to the Green Bay Gamblers at 7:05PM.</p>
<p>2005-06 RoughRiders season tickets are currently available through the Riders' business office (247-0340). In addition to their seats, season ticket holders also receive a host of exclusive benefits. </p>
<p>Last season's Clark Cup (playoff) title was the first in RoughRider history. The Riders also claimed a share of the Anderson Cup (regular season) title for the first time ever last season after posting the best record in team history (42-13-5).</p>
