<P>October 16, 2004 - RoughRiders 4 Waterloo 1</P>
<P>The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders celebrated their home opener in style Saturday night, scoring four unanswered goals on the way to a 4-1 win over the Waterloo Black Hawks.</P>
<P>After Drew Dobson’s power play goal Waterloo a 1-0 lead with 2:17 remaining in the first period, the RoughRiders bounced back to take control of the game in the second period with three goals in a span of just five minutes.</P>
<P>Jon Grabarek started the onslaught at 7:35 of the second. Grabarek weaved out of the left wing corner and into the slot to shovel a backhander past Black Hawk goaltender Bud Johnson. That goal was Grabarek’s thirty-eighth for the Riders, tying the team career goal scoring record.</P>
<P>The RoughRiders would take the lead at 10:51 of the second. Brandon Svendson took an Alec Martinez drop pass and snapped the puck home from the top of the left wing faceoff circle to break the deadlock.</P>
<P>One minute 24 seconds later, the RoughRiders extended the lead to 3-1 while on the power play. Shane Lovdahl’s blasted the puck past Johnson from the middle of the blue line just three seconds after the Riders went up a man. That goal also chased Johnson from the game. He was replaced by Drew O’Connell.</P>
<P>Jordan Pietrus’s breakaway goal at 4:05 of the third period effectively finished off the Black Hawks.</P>
