Carlson to Speak at Celebration of Sports Tomorrow Night
<p>June 8, 2005- Mark Carlson, coach and general manager of the the Clark Cup Champion Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, will be the keynote speaker at the Fifth Annual Cedar Rapids Area Convention and Visitors Bureau's Celebration of Sports Banquet tomorrow night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.</p>
<p>The Celebration of Sports Banquet begins at 5:30PM and features a silent auction, dinner, Coach Carlson's speech and the presentation of the Linn County Male and Female Athletes of the Year.</p>
<p>Carlson this season led the Riders to the first United States Hockey League title in team history and was named USHL Coach of the Year. He is the only coach the Riders have known since arriving in Cedar Rapids six years ago.</p>
<p>Proceeds from the banquet benefit the East central Iowa Special Olympics and the Convention and Visitors Bureau's Sports Tourism Fund.</p> |
