RoughRiders to Meet Sioux City in Clark Cup Finals

<p>April 27, 2005- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will meet the Sioux City Musketeers in the best-of-five United States Hockey League Clark Cup finals beginning Friday night at 7:05 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.</p> <p>The Riders will also host game two Sunday at 7:05PM. The series will shift to Sioux City for game three next Thursday, May 5 at 7:05PM. If necessary, a fourth game would be played in Sioux City on Saturday, May 7 at 7:05PM. If a fifth game is required to decide the series, it would take place on Monday, May 9, in Cedar Rapids at 7:05PM.</p> <p>The Riders advanced to the Clark Cup finals by sweeping the Chicago Steel in three straight games in the East Division finals. The Riders closed out the Steel with a 4-2 win in game three Sunday night in Bensenville, Illinois.</p> <p>The Musketeers secured their spot in the finals by defeating the Tri-City Storm three games to one in the West Division finals. The Musketeers finished off Tri-City with a 3-2 victory in game four last night in Kearney, Nebraska. </p> <p>The Riders&#8217; sweep of the Steel was Cedar Rapids&#8217; second in as many series. The Riders defeated the Indiana Ice three games to none in the opening round. Dating back to their final two regular season games- a pair of wins over the Green Bay Gamblers- the Riders have now won a season high eight straight games overall.</p> <p>The Riders (42-13-5, 89 points) won the regular season division title and earned a share of the Anderson Cup for the first time in club history by finishing tied for first overall with the Omaha Lancers. </p> <p>The Musketeers (37-17-6, 80 points) finished the regular season tied for second place in the West Division with the Lincoln Stars. The Muskies went on to eliminate the Stars in four games in the opening round of the playoffs.</p> <p>Though this marks the first time that the Riders have reached the finals, Cedar Rapids has reached the Clark Cup semi-finals (East Division finals) three times in the last four years. The Riders are also one of just three USHL teams who have reached the playoffs each of the last five years.</p> <p>The Musketeers are bidding for their second Clark Cup in four years. Sioux City last won the title in 2002. All-time, the Musketeers have taken home the cup three times, winning it first in 1982 and again in 1986. </p> <p>Clark Cup finals tickets are currently on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office (261-4625). Playoff ticket prices range from $9 to $18. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM Monday through Friday and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. The ticket office will also be open this Saturday from noon to 4:00PM.</p> <p>The Clark Cup is symbolic of supremacy in American junior hockey and is presented annually to the playoff champions of the USHL, the nation&#8217;s only Tier I junior league.</p>
