Game Summary: April 20, 2005- RoughRiders 2 Chicago 1
<p>Matt Vokes and Ted Purcell provided the goals while Alex Stalock made 29 saves as the host RoughRiders defeated the Chicago Steel 2-1 Wednesday night to take a one game to none lead in the best-of-five East Division finals.</p>
<p>Vokes scored the only goal of the first period by redirecting a Greg Collins centering pass out of midair and into the back of the net 8:09 into the game.</p>
<p>Purcell scored what proved to be the game winner at 2:52 of the second period when his feed from the left wing boards bounced of the stick of Chicago defenseman Kevin Roeder in the goalmouth and caromed into the net just under the cross bar.</p>
<p>Dan Charleston cut the Rider lead to 2-1 with a power play goal at 7:15 of the second. Charleston swept the puck home from the goalmouth to get Chicago on the scoreboard.</p>
<p>Stalock and the Riders would successfully protect the one goal lead the rest of the way to claim the series opening victory.</p>
