Anderson Cup to Be Presented Friday;$3 off Admission to Saturday's Game for Kernel Ticket Holders

<p>April 6, 2005- The Anderson Cup will be presented to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders prior to the Riders&#8217; opening playoff game against the Indiana Ice this Friday at 7:05PM at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. </p> <p>The Anderson Cup is awarded each year to the United States Hockey League&#8217;s regular season champion. The Riders (42-13-5, 89 points) earned a share of the 2004-05 regular season title after finishing tied for first overall with the Omaha Lancers. </p> <p>USHL President Gino Gasparini will be on hand at the ice arena this Friday to present the cup to the Riders. The Anderson Cup is named after Harold Anderson, an influential figure in the formation of the Midwest Junior Hockey League, the predecessor of the USHL, and has been awarded annually since 1973.</p> <p>The Riders clinched a share of the first Anderson Cup title in team history by closing out the regular season with a pair of wins over the Gamblers in Green Bay last weekend. After beginning their drive for the Clark Cup playoff title on home ice Friday night, the Riders will also host the second game of their series with Indiana Saturday evening at 7:05. Fans who attend the Cedar Rapids Kernels&#8217; 5:00PM home game against the Kane County Cougars Saturday will receive $3 off admission to the Riders&#8217; game later Saturday night if they present their Kernels ticket stub when purchasing tickets to the Riders game.</p> <p>The Riders and Ice will play game three of their series in Indianapolis next Tuesday. If necessary, game four will take place next Thursday in Indianapolis. If the series goes the distance, the fifth and deciding game would be played on Saturday, April 16, in Cedar Rapids. </p> <p>First round playoff tickets are currently on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office (261-4625). Playoff ticket prices range from $9 to $18. Tickets for only the first round of the playoffs are currently available. First round playoff tickets are already included in season ticket holders&#8217; packages.</p>
