Game Summary: April 2, 2005- RoughRiders 4 Green Bay 2
<p>Third period goals one minute and thirty-six seconds apart from Brandon Svendsen and Erik Felde enabled the RoughRiders to break open a tight game on the way to a 4-2 win over the host Green Bay Gamblers in the final game of the regular season Saturday night.</p>
<p>With the win, the Riders clinched a share of the Anderson Cup regular season title. The Riders and Omaha Lancers finished tied for first place overall in the United States Hockey League.</p>
<p>The Riders held a slim 2-1 lead until Svendsen raced in on a partial breakaway and tucked the puck home to extend the advantage to 3-1 at 5:36 of the third period.</p>
<p>The Riders went up 4-1 when Zach Miskovic’s shot bounced of Felde’s skate an into the net at 7:12 of the third.</p>
<p>Ryan Peterson scored Green Bay’s second power play goal with just 31 seconds left in the game, but by then the Gamblers hopes had already been dashed.</p>
<p>The Riders first took the lead when Jordan Pietrus opened the scoring with just under two minutes left in the first period. Ted Purcell backhanded the puck off the goal post, but Pietrus was on hand to deposit the rebound in the back of the net.</p>
<p>The Gamblers battled back to tie the game on Blake Wheeler’s second period power play goal. Wheeler swept the puck home from the left wing circle at the 6:14 mark.</p>
<p>The Gamblers would go on to outshoot the Riders 24-5 in the second period and (50-29 on the night), but it was the Riders who broke the tie late in the second. Cedar Rapids was on the power play when Justin Abdelkader tipped in a Shane Lovdahl blue line blast to make the score 2-1 at 17:28.</p>
