RoughRiders Announce Upcoming Promotions: Fireworks, NASCAR Coming to Cedar Rapids Ice Arena

<P>October 6, 2004 - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders today announced an extended 2004-05 promotions schedule.</P> <P>Fireworks and NASCAR appearances are among the highlights of the schedule.</P> <P>&#8220;We&#8217;re very excited about the great family promotions we&#8217;ve been able to line up for this season,&#8221; said RoughRiders Vice President of Operations Jim Calpin. &#8220;In addition to exciting hockey action, a ticket to a RoughRiders game is also going to provide a lot more fun for fans.&#8221;</P> <P>A brief fireworks display outside the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena will follow the RoughRiders&#8217; October 16 regular season home opener against the Waterloo Black Hawks. As was previously announced, fans attending the home opener will receive free RoughRiders 2004-05 magnet schedules courtesy of AM-1360 The Fan, Aspen Athletic Club, I wireless and Lindale Mall.</P> <P>NASCAR racecars roll into the ice arena several times this season. The Dale Jarrett #88 UPS car will be the first to arrive. The Jarrett car will be on display for fans at the RoughRiders October 30 game against the Indiana Ice. Fans will have there chance to get up close with the Dale Earnhardt Jr. #8 Budweiser Born On Date Car on Saturday, November 13 when the RoughRiders host the Green Bay Gamblers. Next up, on January 29, the Jeff Gordon #24 DuPont car will hit the ice arena as the Riders take on the Sioux Falls Stampede.</P> <P>The RoughRiders will team up with the University of Iowa for a hockey double header on January 22. The Hawkeye men&#8217;s hockey team will face off against the University of Northern Iowa prior to the RoughRiders 7:05 match-up with the Chicago Steel.</P> <P>There will be laughs aplenty at the ice arena in late January and early February when the RoughRiders team up with Penguin&#8217;s Comedy Club for Last Comic Skating. Three amateur comedians will perform during the first intermission of the RoughRiders&#8217; Friday, January 28 game against the Indiana Ice and the Riders&#8217; Saturday, February 5 contest against the Waterloo Black Hawks. The winners of those two competitions will be selected by the fans and will return for a final one-on-one laugh-off on Friday night, February 15 after the first period of the RoughRiders&#8217; game against the Des Moines Buccaneers. The winning comic will be rewarded with a chance to perform at Penguin&#8217;s Comedy Club.</P> <P>The latest wave of promotions comes on the heels of a series of exciting events already announced by the club. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 247-0340 or in person at the ice arena. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $8.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee.</P>
