The Riders have one game in hand on <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Omaha</st1:place></st1:City>.<o:p></o:p> Last Saturday’s win also enabled the Riders to tie the USHL record for most road wins (20) in a season.<o:p></o:p> With a 3-1 win over <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Sioux Falls</st1:place></st1:City> last Wednesday, the Riders broke the old team record of 34 wins in a season and also snapped the existing club record of 73 points in a season.<o:p></o:p> The Riders’ five game winning streak comes after the Riders had lost their prior two games and gone winless (0-3-1) in their previous four.<o:p></o:p> The Riders complete a stretch of four straight road games this Wednesday. The Riders have won the first three games during that run (all by 3-1 scores) and have gone 16-1 in their last 17 road games.<o:p></o:p> At 20-3-1 away from home, the Riders are far and away the best road team in the USHL. The Riders have a better winning percentage on the road (.854) than at home, where they have gone 16-6-4 (.692).<o:p></o:p> Heading into this Wednesday’s game in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Chicago</st1:place></st1:City>, the Riders have won three straight games against East Division opponents. The Riders have already clinched the <st1:place w:st="on">East Division-</st1:place> the first division title in team history.<o:p></o:p> The Riders have suffered just one regulation loss (8-1-4) in their last thirteen games against West Division opponents.<o:p></o:p> The Riders remain the USHL’s best offensive team and rank second in the league defensively. The Riders score an average of 3.8 goals per game and give up 2.6 goals per contest. <o:p></o:p> The Riders have given up just one goal in each of their last four games and have allowed a total of just six over the course of their five game winning streak.<o:p></o:p> The Riders remain atop the league on the power play (23.8 percent). <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> The Steel is winless (0-1-2) in its last three games. <o:p></o:p> The Steel was last in action last Saturday night in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Waterloo</st1:place></st1:City>, where it fell 5-2 to the Black Hawks.<o:p></o:p> That result enabled the Black Hawks to pull within two points of the Steel in the race for second place in the East Division and home ice advantage in the first round of the Clark Cup. The Steel has played four more games than the Black Hawks.<o:p></o:p> The Steel has picked up at least one point in each of its last seven home games (3-0-4).<o:p></o:p> The Steel has struggled to score goals at times this season. <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Chicago</st1:place></st1:City> ranks ninth in the league in goals per game (2.7). An often punchless power play is one factor in the Steel’s offensive struggles. <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Chicago</st1:place></st1:City> ranks second to last in the league on the power play, cashing in on just 12.3 percent of its man advantages.<o:p></o:p> The Stampede continues to tread water at the bottom of the West Division. The Stampede is eight points behind the Tri-City Storm in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot in the west.<o:p></o:p> The Stampede has won just two of its last eight games (2-3-2). Last week <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Sioux Falls</st1:place></st1:City> went 1-1-1. The Herd followed up last Wednesday’s loss to the Riders with a potentially crucial 3-2 win over Tri-City last Saturday. Any momentum the Stampede may have gained from that win over the Storm was short-circuited last night as <st1:City w:st="on">Sioux Falls</st1:City> fell 4-3 to <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Lincoln</st1:place></st1:City> in a shootout.<o:p></o:p> Hampered by injuries much of the season, the Stampede has not been able to regain the form that saw it go 9-3-1 over the first 13 games of the campaign. <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Sioux Falls</st1:place></st1:City> has gone just 13-20-4 since then.<o:p></o:p> <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Sioux Falls</st1:place></st1:City>’ Andrew Carroll (27-20-47) is tied for the league lead in goal scoring, just ahead of teammate Justin Milo (24-15-39), who ranks fourth. Between them, Carroll and <st1:place w:st="on">Milo</st1:place> have provided more than one third (34.2 percent) of the Stampede’s 149 total goals this season.<o:p></o:p> The Sioux City Musketeers have gone 6-2-1 in their last nine games.<o:p></o:p> After starting the season 18-6-4, the Musketeers have gone just 11-10-2 since suffering a 6-5 defeat in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Cedar Rapids</st1:place></st1:City> on December 18.<o:p></o:p> The Musketeers fell 3-2 in shootout to the Tri-City Storm Saturday evening in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Kearney</st1:City>, <st1:State w:st="on">Nebraska</st1:State></st1:place>.<o:p></o:p> That game was the fifth in a row on the road for the Musketeers and their eighth game away from home in their last nine overall.<o:p></o:p> It seems likely the Musketeers will remain in third place in the West Division through the end of the season. The Musketeers are seven points behind second place <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Lincoln</st1:place></st1:City> and seven points ahead of fourth place Tri-City. Justin White snapped a 2-2 tie early in the third period, but the Stampede gave up the tying goal with just over two minutes left in regulation.
