Game Summary: February 24, 2005- RoughRiders 5 Des Moines 2
<p>Rob Ricci scored two goals and the host RoughRiders rolled to a 5-2 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers Thursday night.</p>
<p>Ricci was one of five Riders who picked up at least two points. Brandon Svendsen led the way with one goal and two assists.</p>
<p>Ricci gave the Riders a 1-0 lead just 3:52 into the first period. The Rider captain snapped a backhander past Des Moines goaltender A.J. Bucchino from the slot.</p>
<p>Jon Grabarek wristed the puck home from the slot to double the Rider lead at 14:25 of the first.</p>
<p>The Riders extended the lead to 3-0 at 17:01 of the second period when Brandon Svendsen broke into the left wing circle and fired the puck home for a power play goal.</p>
<p>The Bucs were on the power play when Samir Saliji beat Rider goaltender Dan Tormey between the pads to get Des Moines on the scoreboard at 1:40 of the third period.</p>
<p>The Riders would bounce back with two more goals later in the third. </p>
<p>Ricci buried a Ted Purcell centering feed to make it 4-1 at 11:16.</p>
<p>Matt Vokes’ backhander from the goalmouth gave the Riders a game-high four goal lead at 16:13.</p>
<p>With just one minute, forty-four second left in the game, Trevor Lewis scored the Bucs’ second goal with a wrister from the high slot, but by then the Riders were already sure of picking up two points.</p>
