RoughRiders’ Miskovic Commits to St. Lawrence

<p>February 21, 2005- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Zach Miskovic has committed to St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, the RoughRiders announced today.</p> <p>Miskovic will begin his college career in the fall.</p> <p>&#8220;We are certainly very happy for Zach,&#8221; said RoughRiders coach and general manager Mark Carlson. &#8220;He has contributed so much on and off the ice over the last three seasons and has filled a key leadership role for us this year.&#8221;</p> <p>Miskovic, one of the Riders&#8217; assistant captains, has scored 3 goals and totaled 16 points in 45 games this season. The 19-year old also ranks ninth in the United States Hockey League with 115 penalty mintues. </p> <p>Miskovic has not missed a single game in his three-year RoughRider career. The River Forest, Illinois, native has played 165 consecutive games since making his Rider debut in a season opening 4-1 win over the River City Lancers on September 28, 2002. Miskovic broke Chris Snavely&#8217;s team record for most consecutive games played earlier this season when he took to the ice for the one hundred fourtieth straight time in the RoughRiders&#8217; 4-1 defeat of the Indiana Ice on December 4 in Indianapolis. Miskovic also ranks second in team history in total (consecutive or otherwise) career games played behind only Snavely.</p> <p>Miskovic had six goals and 21 points last season. In 2002-03 he was voted the team&#8217;s Most Improved Player after picking up two goals and eight points in his first USHL campaign.</p> <p>In all, Miskovic has scored eleven goals and totaled 35 points over the course of his Rider career. He has also piled up 345 career penalty minutes, second most in team history.</p> <p>St. Lawrence has gone 14-16-2 overall this season. Coach Joe Marsh&#8217;s Saints are in seventh place in the twelve-team Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference with an 8-11-1 conference record. </p> <p>Miskovic joins Justin Abdelkader (Michigan State), Phil Axtell (Michigan Tech), Greg Collins (New Hampshire), Ray Eichenlaub (Miami of Ohio), Billy Loupee (Miami of Ohio), Shane Lovdahl (Alaska-Anchorage), Alec Martinez (Miami of Ohio), Ted Purcell (Maine), Rob Ricci (Merrimack), Alex Stalock (Minnesota-Duluth), Brandon Svendsen (Bowling Green), Gary Steffes (Miami of Ohio) and Matt Vokes (Brown) as the fourteenth member of the 2004-05 RoughRiders to make a college commitment.</p> <p>Miskovic and the East Division-leading RoughRiders (31-9-5, 67 points) return to action with three games this week. The Riders will host the Des Moines Buccaneers Thursday night and the Indiana Ice Friday evening before traveling to Green Bay to meet the Gamblers Saturday night. All three games face off at 7:05PM.</p> <p>Tickets for the Riders&#8217; games Thursday and Friday- and all remaining Rider home dates- are now on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or in person at the ice arena. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $8.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee. </p> <p>This Friday is a Family Pack night. The Family Pack enables fans to purchase four green zone seats, four hot dogs, four fountain drinks and a game program all for just $44. The Family Pack is available for all of the RoughRiders&#8217; Friday and Sunday home games.</p>
