Game Summary: February 15, 2005- Omaha 5 RoughRiders 4 (so)

<P>Corey Carlson converted the deciding penalty shot as the Omaha Lancers came from behind to defeat the host RoughRiders 5-4 in a shootout Tuesday night. The Riders did earn one point for the shootout loss.</P> <P>The Lancers won the seven-round shootout 2-1. Ted Cook also scored on his penalty shot for the Lancers, while Ted Purcell was the only Rider to score in the shootout.</P> <P>Omaha goaltender Ed Neville stopped the final six Rider penalty shots.</P> <P>The Lancers pushed the game into overtime and then the shootout after twice battling from behind to tie the score in regulation.</P> <P>Brett Motherwell&#8217;s power play goal at 16:35 of the third period knotted the score at four just when it seem the Riders might walk away with a regulation win. Motherwell rifled the puck home from the left wing circle to erase the Riders&#8217; 4-3 lead.</P> <P>The score had been tied at three entering the third period. The Riders snapped the deadlock when Rob Ricci raced into the left wing circle and fired the puck home at 6:28 of the third.</P> <P>It was the Lancers who struck twice in the second period to erase a 3-1 Rider lead. The Lancers were on the power play when they pulled within one at 3:13 of the second when Trevor Smith buried the puck from the doorstep.</P> <P>Just over three minutes later, Ted Cook grabbed the puck in the slot and wristed it just inside the post to the left of Rider goaltender Dan Tormey to even the score. </P> <P>The RoughRiders&#8217; three first period goals all came on the power play.</P> <P>Erik Felde raced into the goalmouth and steered the puck past Neville to open the scoring at 5:08 of the first.</P> <P>The Riders extended the lead to 2-0 at 11:06 when Ray Eichenlaub buried a goalmouth feed from Matt Vokes.</P> <P>It was the Lancers who converted on the power play next as a Nick Krates blast from the top of the left wing circle got Omaha on the scoreboard for the first time at the 13:42 mark of the opening period. </P> <P>The Riders moved back in front by a pair in the final minute of the period when Jon Grabarek weaved in on net to score with a backhander.</P> <P><A href="http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/boxscore.html?gameid=134751" target=_blank>Box Score</A></P>
