<p>The RoughRiders routed the host Des Moines Buccaneers 8-4 Thursday night to break the USHL single season record for longest road winning streak. The win was the Riders' twelfth straight away from home. With the victory, the Riders also tied the league record for longest overall road winning streak.</p> <p>The Riders scored four power play goals and tied a club record with two shorthanded goals. Eight different Riders scored one goal apiece. Kyle Solomon and Brent Cornelius both scored their first USHL goals.</p> <p>The Riders took command of the game with three straight second period goals. </p> <p>Solomon snapped a 2-2 tie just 1:09 into the second when he raced into the right wing circle and fired the puck under the cross bar, beating Des Moines goaltender A.J. Bucchino on the glove side.</p> <p>Jon Grabarek extended the lead to 4-2 when he scored the Riders' second shorthanded goal of the game at 10:23 of the second. Grabarek banked the puck in off of the sprawling Bucchino from the end boards.</p> <p>The Riders bumped the lead up to 5-2 while on the power play when Ray Eichenlaub buried Ted Purcell's back door feed at 12:41.</p> <p>The Bucs did claw their way back within one, cutting the Rider lead to 5-4 with goals from Chad Rau, who snapped a wrister home from the top of the left wing circle at 16:27 of the second, and Matt Greer, who crashed the net to bang the puck in at 2:13 of the third.</p> <p>The Riders soon shattered Buc comeback hopes with three unanswered goals.</p> <p>Purcell scored from the doorstep at even strength to give the Riders a 6-4 cushion at 7:27 of the third.</p> <p>The Riders would finish off the Bucs with two more power play goals. Ricci's drive from the top of the right wing circle made it 7-4 at 13:45.</p> <p>Cornelius launched the puck past Bucchino from the left point with 3:44 remaining to complete the romp.</p> <p>Early on it was actually the Buccaneers who jumped out to a 1-0 lead. At 5:59 of the first period on former Rider Sean Muncy's wrist shot from the top of the left wing circle put Des Moines on top.</p> <p>Late in the first, the Riders scored a pair of special teams goals just 35 seconds apart. Brandon Svendsen charged down the left wing and cut to the net to score shorthanded at 16:52.</p> <p>At 17:27, the Riders were on the power play when Shane Lovdahl's blue line blast gave them a 2-1 lead.</p> <p>The Bucs provided a quick response of their own when Jim Erickson scored with a backhander from the slot to tie the game at two with just 1:02 left in the first.</p> <p>The Bucs did outshoot the Riders 40-36, but Rider goaltender made 36 saves to set the stage for the offensive fireworks generated by his teammates.</p> <p><a href="http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/boxscore.html?gameid=134727" target="_blank">Box Score</a></p>
