Guns & Hoses Night Kicks Off RoughRider Home Weekend

<p>January 26, 2005, Iowa-The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will honor local law enforcement officers and fire fighters with &#8220;Guns & Hoses Night&#8221; when the Riders host the Indiana Ice this Friday at 7:05PM. The Riders will also be in action on Saturday evening as the Sioux Falls Stampede visits the ice arena for another 7:05 game.</p> <p>The Riders will wear special limited edition &#8220;Guns & Hoses&#8221; jerseys during Friday&#8217;s game. The jerseys will then go up for bid in a live auction immediately following the game. Groups benefiting from the jersey auction include the Salvation Army and the Red Cross.</p> <p>&#8220;Fire fighters and law enforcement personnel obviously play a vital role in our community,&#8221; said RoughRiders Vice President of Operations Jim Calpin. &#8220;We&#8217;re very happy to be able to recognize their contributions in this way.&#8221;</p> <p>Discounted tickets to Friday&#8217;s game have been made available to area law enforcement personnel and fire fighters.</p> <p>In addition to hard hitting-action, there will also be plenty of laughs at Friday night&#8217;s game as the RoughRiders team up with Penguin&#8217;s Comedy Club for the Last Comic Skating competition. Local amateur comics will perform during the second intermission of the game. The funniest act, as chosen by the fans, will advance to the Last Comic Skating final (February 18) to compete for a chance to perform at Penguin&#8217;s Comedy Club in Cedar Rapids.</p> <p>This Friday is also a Family Pack Night. The Family Pack enables fans to purchase four green zone seats, four hot dogs, four fountain drinks and a game program all for just $44. The Family Pack is available for all of the RoughRiders&#8217; Friday and Sunday home games.</p> <p>Saturday the Jeff Gordon #24 DuPont Car arrives at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. Fans can sidle up to the retired #24 car before and during the RoughRiders&#8217; game against the Stampede. The car will be on display beginning at 6:00PM. The appearance of the #24 car is made possible by Anderson Automotive in Marion.</p> <p>Gordon is one of NASCAR&#8217;s preeminent drivers. He is a four time NASCAR Cup Series champion, two-time Daytona 500 winner and four-time Brickyard 400 winner. In all, Gordon has 69 career race victories to his credit.</p> <p>The appearance of the #24 car is just the latest NASCAR-themed night at the ice arena. Already this season, the RoughRiders have welcomed the cars of NASCAR greats Dale Earnhardt Jr., Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Sterling Marilin. </p> <p>The RoughRiders (28-5-3, 59 points) are in first place overall in the United States Hockey League. The Riders, who lead the Omaha Lancers by four points in the race for the league&#8217;s top spot, have gone 12-2 in their last 14 games and 21-2-2 in their last 25 outings. </p> <p>Tickets for this weekend&#8217;s games and all remaining RoughRiders home dates are now on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or in person at the ice arena. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $8.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee. </p>
