RoughRiders Clinch East Division Title

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders clinched the United States Hockey League’s East Division title with a 3-1 win in Green Bay last night. The win over the Gamblers gives the Riders the first division championship in the team’s six-year history.

The league-leading Cedar Rapids RoughRiders play three home games in a five day span this week. The Riders last Friday set a new United States Hockey League record with their thirteenth straight road win, a 5-4 overtime defeat of the Chicago Steel in Bensenville, Illinois. That victory, combined with the Green Bay Gamblers’ 5-1 loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks the same evening, also enabled the Riders to clinch their fifth straight Clark Cup playoff berth.

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders split a pair of games last week. The Riders routed the Des Moines Buccaneers 8-4 last Thursday in Urbandale. Two nights later the Riders were shutout 1-0 by the Waterloo Black Hawks on home ice.

The RoughRiders routed the host Des Moines Buccaneers 8-4 Thursday night to break the USHL single season record for longest road winning streak. The win was the Riders' twelfth straight away from home. With the victory, the Riders also tied the league record for longest overall road winning streak.
